India Badminton pair lost against the Indonesians in their Group 'A' encounter in Tokyo Olympics

On Monday, World No. 10 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were easily defeated by World No. 1 Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Gideon Marcus Fernaldi men's doubles Group A match.

Satwiksairaj and Chirag were defeated in consecutive games 21-13, 21-12 in just over 30 minutes. Despite the loss, the star Indian doubles players are still in contention to go to the men's doubles quarterfinals.

Satwik and Chirag got off to a strong start, winning short rallies against the Minions. The first game ended in a 5-5 tie, but the Indonesian superstars found a new gear and sped to victory in both games.

Chirag Shetty required medical attention before the start of the second game after colliding with the next post. On-air analysts, however, acknowledged that he did not do so and that it could have been a minor toenail issue.

Despite the loss, Satwik and Chirag are in second place in Group A, four teams. Satwik and Chirag upset world no. 3 Yang Lee and Chi-Lin Wang of Chinese Taipei in their first Group Stage match.

If Satwik and Chirag defeat Great Britain's Lane Ben and Vendy Sean in their final group-stage match on Tuesday, they will advance to the quarterfinals. Even if they lose, they can reach the quarterfinals if Yang Lee and Chi-Lin Wang do not defeat the Minions.

Meanwhile, after losing his opening match to Israel's Zilberman, Sai Praneeth's chances of making it to the men's singles knockout stages are over. Praneeth has one more encounter remaining in his campaign, but the outcome will have no bearing on his chances.
